This research was carried out in order to create a path to the linguistic world of the Deaf, leading to a pedagogical reflection on the process of teaching- learning process of a third language. The research deals with the linguistic contact between three languages: Colombian Sign Language (LSC), Spanish (L2) and English (L3) during an intensive process of English teaching to Deaf teenagers as part of their academic activities. The study was carried out with four seventeen and eighteen year old Deaf students in Grade Nine, who have been immersed in a conventional educative system in the city of Armenia, Quindío. The main purpose of this qualitative study is to describe the conditions, linguistic skills and cross linguistic effects related to the process of the acquisition of English as a third language (L3) in a group of Deaf students . The results show the influence of Colombian Sign Language (LSC) on the written productions in Spanish and English of this group. This linguistic influence leads to different results in both languages, positive to the learning of English due to the linguistic similarities in syntax, verb conjugation and the use of gender and number. The results provide evidence of the proficiency levels reached by the Deaf students in the English as L3 teaching and learning process.
